Resident Evil Village PS VR2 Version Playable at TGS 2022

The PlayStation VR2 version of Resident Evil: Village is lined up for an appearance at TGS 2022, marking the first playable title for the new headset.

While a lot of gamers’ attention is currently on Gamescom taking place in Cologne, where exciting new reveals and updates on existing titles have taken place, there are other major gaming events set for 2022, one of which is the Tokyo Games Show. TGS 2022 marks the first time the event has had a physical audience since the beginning of the pandemic. With this return of fans in attendance, it seems that this year’s TGS will have plenty of exciting reveals, including giving gamers their first look at how the PlayStation VR2 will play with a Resident Evil: Village demo.

At the Capcom booth at this year’s Tokyo Games Show, the Resident Evil: Village PS VR2 demo will be based around Castle Dimitrescu, where players meet the popular Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters. Given that the demo will be for a VR headset, Capcom is placing a heavy amount of focus on immersion, giving players an experience they aren’t likely to forget by ramping up the horror with a virtual reality perspective.

Alongside increasing the horror in Resident Evil: Village, the demo will also mark the first opportunity for players to try the PlayStation VR2 before its release. Sony has confirmed this over on Twitter, so fans should only expect more to be revealed on the upcoming VR headset at the time of the Tokyo Games Show, which takes place between September 15 and September 18 this year. Already, Sony has confirmed that the PS VR2 is set to launch in early 2023, which led many to expect that some gameplay from the new platform would be shown off soon.

Previously, it was announced that Resident Evil: Village would be getting a full PS VR2 port, so fans are hoping that alongside the demo featuring Castle Dimitrescu, they will also see a release date for the new version of the game. With Capcom announcing that Resident Evil: Village on the PlayStation VR2 will have a playable demo, it raises the question of whether some other confirmed titles for the platform will have a showcase at TGS, such as Horizon: Call of the Mountain.

Apart from the Resident Evil: Village PS VR2 demo, it seems Capcom is set to reveal a lot at this year’s Tokyo Games Show. The Monster Hunter and Resident Evil Publisher will have two shows at Tokyo Games Show 2022, with one of those streams being dedicated to new information on Street Fighter 6.

Resident Evil Village VR is in development for the PS5.
