Red retriever stuns internet by appearing to talk to camera in viral video

A dog has gone viral after a video of the retriever seeming to say “momma” was shared on social media, leaving the internet in stitches.

The video, posted on TikTok by Hiep659us290, shows the pet howling, making a sound very similar to what users in the comments described as “momma.”

While dogs may not speak, they do sometimes understand us when we do! According to the American Psychological Association, dogs can actually understand more than 150 words.

Dogs can understand words and signals, and the smartest ones, those in the top 20 percent of dog intelligence, can learn 250 words. Dogs’ mental abilities are close to a human child aged 2 to 2.5 years.

A study from the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Bari in Italy shows that dogs can also understand emotions.

The experiment, carried out by the Italian scientists on 26 dogs, consisted of showing them pictures of different human expressions and then analyzing their heart rates and stress level when looking at them.

Results showed that dogs had stronger reactions when they were exposed to strong emotions like anger or happiness.

The clip, posted on TikTok last Saturday, has gone viral, receiving over 1.2 million likes, 20,600 comments, and 61,600 re-shares.
