Full-Body VR Tracking Shoes Coming Soon To Kickstarter – VRScout

Stroll the metaverse in style.

VR specialty device company Surplex today unveiled a pair of futuristic sneakers that allow you to interact more realistically with VR experiences. The Surplex Full-Body Tracking Shoes, according to the company, remove the need for expensive base stations and complex tracking systems, offering a more comfortable full-body experience in the process.

“Virtual Reality represents a new era for online learning, entertainment, and fun. Until now, however, VR has been limited by the interactive tools available to navigate this visually stunning world. With Surplex Full-Body VR Tracking Shoes, that all changes,” said Surplex Founder Axl Chan.

Each shoe features 240 flexible pressure sensors and an inertial measurement unit (IMU) capable of tracking angles in real-time. When used in tandem with the company’s deep learning algorithm, the shoes are able to accurately track your movement and translate it to VR. Surplex promises 6 hours of battery life on a single charge and an easy set-up process.

“The power of Surplex lies in our self-developed flexible pressure sensors under each foot and proprietary deep learning algorithms to infer human 3D skeletons accurately. The result is the most natural and highly accurate way to interact with the virtual world. Surplex is more than a VR accessory, it represents true freedom for a fascinating new world.”

The Surplex Full-Body Tracking Shoes are coming soon to Kickstarter. No word yet on an official price or which platforms will receive support. The company says that shoes will be compatible with various games and apps, including VRChat, Blade and Sorceryand Neos VR.
