FTC’s Suit Challenging Meta’s VR Merger Gets December Trial – Law360

By Dorothy Atkins (August 15, 2022, 4:17 PM EDT) — A California federal judge on Monday set a five-day antitrust bench trial to begin Dec. 8 over the Federal Trade Commission’s effort to block the Facebook parent company’s purchase of virtual reality device app developer Within Unlimited Inc.

During a videoconference hearing, US District Judge Edward Davila told attorneys representing the FTC, Meta Platforms Inc. and Los Angeles-based Within Unlimited that he has a criminal trial scheduled for early December, around the days that they had proposed for trial. However, he said he cleared at least five days for their antitrust trial between Dec. 8 and Dec. 20.
